Jana Nayagan: The producers of the Vijay headliner, Jana Nayagan, have submitted a letter to the Madras High Court registry, seeking to withdraw their case against the Central Board of Film Certification. KVN Productions, the banner behind the film, filed an appeal with the Madras HC in January after the CBFC moved to send the film to a revising committee.

The initial petition from the production house, stated that a CBFC committee had evaluated the film in December 2025, and had made recommendations for excisions, which the production house confirmed to have carried out. Later a member of the original evaluating committee filed a complaint, stating that the film violated the sentiment of certain religions and did not consult with the armed forces before using their logos in the film. The chairman of the CBFC then moved to send the film to a revising committee.

Subsequently, a single judge of the Madras HC, Justice PT Asha, ruled that the CBFC should provide the necessary certification immediately, and that the move of the chairman was beyond his jurisdiction. On the same day, a division bench of the Madras HC stayed the order of the single judge.

The producers then appealed to the Supreme Court, who then redirected the producers to appear before the division bench of the Madras HC for raising its arguements.

In the end, the division bench of the Madras HC set aside the single judge's ruling and ordered a fresh hearing.
