Ahead of Silambarasan's 43rd birthday, many hit films of the actor are planned for re-release in theatres. Among them is the 2004 romantic action thriller film Manmadhan, directed by AJ Murugan. Many theatre owners in Tamil Nadu took to their X handles to announce that the film would re-release in theatres on February 3 for his birthday.
Starring Silambarasan in dual roles as brothers Madhan Kumar and Madhan Raj, Manmadhan follows a serial killer who targets "immoral" women, while Mythili (Jyotika) falls in love with him, unaware of his dark secret and past trauma. The film also stars Goundamani, Sindhu Tolani, Atul Kulkarni and Santhanam playing supporting roles.
The film was commercially well received and had a blockbuster run at the box office for over 150 days at the time of its release. It was also remade in Kannada as Madana (2006).
Previously, it was announced that the actor's 2008 film Silambattam would also be re-released in theatres. Directed by S Saravanan, the action drama, also starring Simbu in dual roles, will hit theatres on February 6.
Silambarasan was last seen in the lead role in Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam's Thug Life. Up next, he has Vetri Maaran's Arasan which is currently in production. Set in the world of Vada Chennai, also stars Vijay Sethupathi along with Andrea Jeremiah, reprising her role as Chandra from Vada Chennai, and Tourist Family-fame Yogalakshmi.
