Strong buzz within the Tamil film industry suggests that Silambarasan TR may be lining up a collaboration with filmmaker AR Murugadoss once he wraps up his upcoming commitments.
According to industry chatter, discussions are underway for a potential project that would bring Simbu and Murugadoss together for the first time. While no formal confirmation has been made so far, the film is reportedly being planned as a full-fledged commercial entertainer. Well-known producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is said to be backing the project, though an official announcement is still awaited.
At present, Simbu is immersed in the shoot of director Vetrimaaran’s Arasan. The action drama recently entered its second schedule, which is currently underway in Chennai. Sources close to the production reveal that filming has picked up momentum since January 20, with the team planning to shoot across multiple locations in the city. Notably, Arasan is also being produced by Thanu’s V Creations.
The film’s first schedule had earlier been completed in Kovilpatti on December 21 last year. Expectations around Arasan are sky-high, as it marks the first collaboration between Simbu and Vetrimaaran. Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of Vijay Sethupathi in a key role, a development that the makers recently confirmed.
The ensemble cast of Arasan also features Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, while Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music. Vetrimaaran had earlier clarified that despite being set in the same universe as Vada Chennai, Arasan is not a sequel to the acclaimed film, putting an end to widespread speculation about Vada Chennai 2.
Once Arasan is completed, Simbu is expected to move on to director Ashwath Marimuthu’s next film. If ongoing talks materialise, the actor’s project with AR Murugadoss would follow thereafter, potentially adding another high-profile collaboration to his already packed lineup.
AR Murugadoss last helmed the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Madharaasi. Silambarasan was last seen in Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life.
