Cinema Express Desk

In an exclusive interview with Cinema Express, Krishnan Kutty, Head of Entertainment - South Cluster at JioStar, mentioned about the contributions that actor Kamal Haasan made during his time as a host of Bigg Boss Tamil. Kamal Haasan, after hosting for seven seasons, departed from the show with Vijay Sethupathi stepping up as host for the eighth and ninth editions of the show.

When asked if he has missed Kamal Hassan's presence in Bigg Boss Tamil, Krishnan said, "I think there's nobody who can replace Kamal sir. And one of the biggest decisions we made is that while looking for a host, we decided that we were not going to get somebody like Kamal sir. We wanted to find someone who will have his own grammar, who will be completely different. So I think there is no question of replacing Kamal sir. I think what he brought to the show, the credibility, especially during the initial seasons, when things were sometimes a little challenging, I will always be grateful."

"I think what Vijay Sethupathi has brought (in), was a completely new language to the show. And that's something which we really appreciate," added Krishnan.

When asked about approaching Silambarasan TR to host Bigg Boss Tamil, Krishan said, "No, I think we were very grateful for STR and for the season he did with us. I don't want to go through the process but Vijay Sethupathi was the person we spoke to first."

The upcoming tenth season of Bigg Boss Tamil is set to premiere on September 6.
