Aditi Shankar has voiced her support for Anupama Parameswaran following the latter’s recent candid revelations about a difficult relationship. Speaking during the promotions of Once More, Aditi said she had watched Anupama’s interview and felt the actor deserved appreciation for speaking honestly about a deeply personal experience.
While Anupama’s comments have triggered varied reactions online, Aditi said she did not see the interview as an attempt to target or demean anyone. Instead, she viewed it as an account of something the actor had personally gone through. “I want to say hats off to her for having the courage to share her own story. There was honesty in what she said,” Aditi said in an interview with Galatta Plus.
She also suggested that conversations around difficult relationships can help others recognise experiences they may be struggling to understand. According to Aditi, people can sometimes find themselves in unhealthy situations without immediately identifying what is happening to them.
She felt Anupama’s decision to speak about her experience could therefore serve a larger purpose. “The experience she shared can create awareness among many people,” Aditi said, adding that she believed the actor’s intention was not to put anyone down.
Anupama had recently spoken about the emotional impact of a past relationship, including how it affected the way she viewed herself. She shared that she was a victim of narcissistic abuse. Her remarks have since prompted conversations about emotional well-being and unhealthy relationship dynamics.
Meanwhile, Aditi is gearing up for the release of Once More, in which she stars opposite Arjun Das. Written and directed by debutant Vignesh Srikanth, the romantic drama follows two individuals from contrasting worlds whose lives intersect. The film, produced by Yuvaraj Ganesan under Million Dollar Studios, is scheduled to hit theatres on August 28.
