Actor Anupama Parameswaran shared more details about her toxic relationship with an unnamed person in the latest episode of her interview with Dhanya Varma. Anupama was asked about the point in her relationship that caused her to end it. In response, the actor said that she spent sleepless nights and eventually had to undergo surgery for swelling in her lacrimal gland, stemming from the emotional distress she faced in her personal life.
"I faced a lot more issues. I was going through some other physical scenario. You will expect some sort of kindness from your partner when you go through a lot of pain in your life. I received nothing from him. On top of that, I faced a lot more destruction," Anupama Parameswaran revealed.
While Anupama clarified that she did not face any "physical abuse," her relationship left her with mental and physical wounds that "can never be healed."
The actor shared that society lacks awareness about these issues, hence she could not talk about them to everyone in her life. However, she added that several of her best friends underwent relationship issues with similar traits. "The reasons they gave, the blame they put, the manipulation, the gaslighting.. Everything is the same," Anupama shared.
Interestingly, Anupama noted that she did not know what she experienced was "narcissistic abuse" for the two years in which she had the relationship. When the actor eventually realised it, she told her partner that she could not take it any longer. "He is a good person, but he has so many traumas in the past from the family. Whatever issues he had, there is some goodness in him, but he also has his flaws," she revealed before adding that he portrayed a problematic image about her in his social circle.
