Director Krishnakumar Ramakumar's GD Naidu biopic continues to see a drop in its box office collection, according to reports. As per data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, the film's collection came down from 46 lakh on day four to 43 lakh on the fifth day of its release. Earlier, the GDN box office collection took a nosedive from 1.14 crore on day 3 to 46 lakh on the fourth day. On the whole, the film grossed 4.01 crore at the global box office, according to Sacnilk data.

The film tells the story of inventor and industrialist GD Naidu, chronicling his fight for progress against authoritarian figures. It also stars Sathyaraj, Thambi Ramaiah, Jayaram, Karunakaran, Dushara Vijayan, and Priyamani, among others.

GDN has opened in theatres to mixed reviews from critics. While critics have generally praised Madhavan's performance in the titular role and the nobility of the real life-based story, they have also expressed disappointment about the docudrama-style storytelling, saying that it struggles to fully capture the emotional depth of the inventor's legacy.

In our review, Prashanth Vallavan wrote, "It is not Madhavan or the script's refusal to probe into the mind, political beliefs, and philosophy of GD Naidu that disconnects us from the film. It is the complete lack of immersion plaguing every single department from production design to cinematography to dialogue writing that constantly gets in the way of us engaging with what is clearly an amazing real-life story."

GDN hit theatres at the same time as Arun Matheswaran's DC, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film marked Lokesh's debut in a lead role after his cameo roles in multiple films. It has earned more than 50 crore from theatres worldwide in four days of its release, announced its producer Sun Pictures.
