Actor Suriya has opened up about the financial hurdles that delayed the release of Karuppu, revealing that he had to take additional loans at the last minute to ensure the film made it to theatres.

Speaking to Hollywood Reporter India about the difficult phase, Suriya credited his wife, actor Jyotika, for standing by him through the crisis. "It was a huge financial burden that came on me at the last minute. For me to take those extra loans, she trusted me and allowed me to do it. She believed that even if something went wrong, as a family we would go through it together and face it together."

Reflecting on the uncertainty surrounding the film's release, Suriya said faith kept him going. "Sometimes, no matter how long you've been in the industry, situations become bigger than you. At that point, all you have is faith—the belief that you'll overcome it and repay those loans. It was a big step for me, but I think it was because of that trust and intuition that we were able to take it."

Jyotika, however, insisted that the credit belonged entirely to Suriya, praising his determination to ensure the film's release. "This was completely his effort. It was his generosity and his determination to make the film work. Directly or indirectly, the family also goes through all of this."

She also revealed that the film's release became possible only because everyone involved came together and made compromises. "Many people were depending on this film. Even the financiers were supportive. They patiently waited and agreed to take back only 25–30% initially so that the film could be released. The theatre owners and financiers—everyone contributed. It truly was a collective effort that finally brought the film to theatres."

The actor's comments come after Karuppu endured several release hurdles before finally making its way to audiences. The RJ Balaji directorial also stars Trisha, the director himself, Supreeth Reddy, Indrans, Swasika, Anagha Maya Ravi, Sshivada, and Natty Natraj, among others.
