Actor-director Dhanush has taken care of the educational expenses of the children of Rajasekaran and Dhanasekar, the administrators of his fan clubs in two different districts. He is set to bear the cost of education in engineering for Harishitha, the daughter of Rajasekaran, a fan club administrator from Cuddalore. Likewise, he has taken responsibility for the full cost of MBBS education for Swetha, the daughter of Dhanasekar, a fan club administrator from Vellore.
Both families also visited the shooting location of Dhanush's upcoming film, Om, upon the actor's invitation, and he presented them with cheques to pay for their educational expenses.
Dhanush is also known for his philanthropic endeavours. The actor may not have a charitable organisation or nonprofit registered in his name, but his fans and welfare association across India carries out philanthropic work and community outreach in his favour.
Sometimes, the actor makes himself available for some of these events, such as the recent blood donation drive in Tamil Nadu. He has personally made donations to social causes and relief funds as well. Another example of this is when he delivered monetary aid to the families of 125 farmers in Tamil Nadu who committed suicide.
On the work front, Dhanush was most recently seen in Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja. He has multiple projects in various stages of production. He is in production for Om, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and co-starring Mammootty, Sreeleela, and Sai Pallavi. The actor recently celebrated his National Film Award wins with his Om director Rajkumar, co-star Mammootty and editor R Kalaivanan, who also won the awards in other categories.
His other upcoming films include an Ilaiyaraaja biopic, an APJ Abdul Kalam biopic, a film with Lubber Pandhu director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, a film with Mari Selvaraj, and Thamizh Murugan with Vetri maaran and co-star Vijay Sethupathi.
