On Tuesday, Vijay made headlines after he visited the Tiruchendur Subramania Swamy Temple in Thoothukudi, following his debut contention in the Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections in the chief ministerial race. The actor-politician was seen presenting flowers to the deity, even as a crowd heavily surrounded him.

During his visit, the temple authorities honoured him with a shawl and a small 'Vel', symbolic of the divine spear used by the Hindu deity. He was also given the 'kumba mariyathai', with heavy police managing the excited throngs chanting his name and party slogans.

Now, as per several reports, the actor-politician is set to continue his pilgrimage by paying a visit to Shirdi to supposedly offer prayers at the Sai Baba temple. While some reports suggest that he will be making the trip tomorrow, following which he will meet all the 234 TVK constituents on Thursday, some other speculations suggest that his travel to Shirdi is scheduled for Thursday.

Vijay has been visiting numerous religious shrines throughout his electoral campaign. The actor visited St Antony's Church on Wireless Road a few days ago while on campaign in Trichy. There, he lit a light, prayed, and did a kneel-walk. He later visited the Noorul Hudah Mosque in KK Nagar, where he was greeted by officials and given a shawl. He prayed at the Kottapattu Pachanachi Amman Temple before departing for Chennai.

Vijay ran from two constituencies in his first elections: Perambur and Trichy East. This is an uncommon accomplishment for a politician, particularly one making his debut. All eyes are on Vijay and TVK, who are anticipated to secure sizable vote shares and a sizable number of seats, since the election results are scheduled to be revealed on May 4.

On the film front, the actor is awaiting the release of Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, which is embroiled in controversies and legal hurdles, with the censor board yet to grant a clearance for the film.
