Actor Soori's upcoming sports action drama Mandaadi, directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, sparked interest when it was announced last year for its focus on a unique sport peculiar to the southern coast of Tamil Nadu. The makers announced on Sunday that the film has wrapped production after an "extensive and demanding schedule."
The makers say that Mandaadi explores "a unique coastal world rooted in the lives of fishing communities." While not a commonly known Tamil term, Mandaadi refers to an expert on ocean currents and wind directions who leads fishing expeditions. The film also stars Suhas, making his Tamil debut, alongside Mahima Nambiar as the female lead. The ensemble cast includes Sathyaraj, Ravindra Vijay, Mithun, and Balasaravanan.
Mandaadi's technical team boasts music composer GV Prakash, cinematographer SR Kathir, editor Pradeep E Ragav, and stunt direction by Peter Hein, Dhilip Subburayan, and Mahesh Mathew. The film has entered the post-production phase, with a release date expected.
