With just two weeks to go for the release of Kara, Dhanush has heaped praise on the action thriller and on director Vignesh Raja, calling him a "genius". Taking to his X handle, Dhanush, in a rare post prior to the release of the film, wrote, "Vignesh Raja - You Genius. Thank you for Kara." Thanking him, the Por Thozhil filmmaker said, "Thank you sir. Thanks for everything."

Besides Dhanush, Kara also stars Mamitha Baiju as Selli, KS Ravikumar as Kandhasaami, Suraj Venjaramoodu as police officer Bharathan, Karunaas as Kasi Maayan and Jayaram as Muthu Selvan.

The filmmaker previously shared that Kara is set in Ramanathapuram in 1991 when Iraq and the United States were locked in an intense war. "Similar to today's West Asia war, oil depots were bombed, causing massive destruction and fires. There was a severe shortage of petrol and diesel. Against this backdrop, the story unfolds over 16 days," he said.

"Karasaami is forced to revisit certain aspects of his life that he had chosen to walk away from. He tries to protect and support the people who depend on him, and in doing so, faces various consequences and life-altering turns. I have presented this as an emotional suspense thriller, blending engaging storytelling with deep emotions," Vignesh Raja added.

The film is directed by Vignesh Raja from a screenplay he has penned alongside his Por Thozhil co-writer Alfred Prakash. It is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner alongside Kushmitha Ganesh. On the technical front, the film also has cinematography by Theni Eswar, editing by Sreejith Sarang, art direction by Mayapandi, and stunt direction by Dinesh Kasi.

Kara is slated for an April 30 release in theatres.
