Vinodhini Vaidynathan dismisses insider's role in Jana Nayagan leak

Vinodhini called it 'unwarranted' and expressed her support for her Jilla co-star Vijay

Earlier this Friday, we reported about the full version of Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, being leaked online. Even as the source of the leak remains unknown, many social medial influencers and some prominent voices in the industry are calling it out. Take Vinodhini Vaidynathan, for example.

The actor-political commentator took to X and wrote, "It is shameful that the work of so many artists, technicians and cast and crew is being destroyed by a single unwarranted act. Strongly stand with Actor Vijay and team at this time and request everyone to refrain from sharing clips or videos of the film."

There is some speculation about whether a member of the film itself is behind the Jana Nayagan leak. Vinodhini Vaidynathan described it as a 'stupid' speculation. "If you were part of a film set for even a single hour, you’ll know the sheer hard work that goes into each frame. Every film deserves to get space on the silver screen rather than on someone’s phone," she explained.

Vinodhini and Vijay starred in 2014's Jilla, directed by RT Neason and also starring Mohanlal. It is worth noting that Vinodhini empathised with her Jilla co-star after the recent Karur stampede but is not one of those blind Vijay loyalists when it comes to the tragic incident. After the stampede, the actor questioned TVK and Vijay's delay in visiting the location to meet the loved ones of the victims, and she also wondered why the superstar entered politics.

Coming back to Jana Nayagan, the film's leak comes hot on the heels of Vijay insinuating during election campaign events that there is a political agenda behind the delay in its release. He made these allegations in multiple events, promoting his candidacy for the chief minister's post.
