Actor Krithi Shetty stars in an important role in Love Insurance Kompany, directed by Vignesh Shivan and co-starring Pradeep Ranganathan, SJ Suryah, Yogi Babu, and Gouri Kishan, among others. The film releases in theatres today. Ahead of its release, the actor spoke about her favourite films from Hollywood.
Talking to Sudhir Srinivasan, Krithi Shetty said that she is a fan of Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Mackey, among others. The actor said that she did not like the film after first viewing but gradually fell in love with it.
Krithi stated that she initially expected it to be 'a cutesy' version of Barbie with a Disney-like treatment to the princess tale. However, a second viewing changed her perception of the film.
"The second time I watched it, I felt like, 'Oh, this movie is beautiful! You really need to see it from some kind of perspective, and then it really hits," the actor added.
She also suggested that the film accurately portrays how society sees women. "I wanted to say it for so long because I feel like people had so much disappointment towards the film, but it was really good."
Krithi also expressed her admiration for Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, starring Uma Thurman as a vengeful bride looking to avenge her fiance's death. After she wakes up from comatose years later, she goes on a vengeful quest for those responsible. "I really am waiting for that to happen here more," she said, referring to a Kill Bill-like film in India. "I just need my Tarantino," the actor added when the interview alluded to her training in the martial arts form Taekwondo. For the unversed, Kill Bill has plenty of action, including including martial arts.
