Vignesh Shivan, who is currently awaiting the release of Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), shared his love for his wife Nayanthara in a recent interview, expressing his happiness on being recognised by the actor's name as her husband in public spheres.
Speaking to Gobinath, the director-lyricist dismissed claims that Nayanthara was "overshadowing" him in his career. "There is nothing of that sort. When we think like that, we can't move forward in life. In between close relationships like father-son, brothers, and husband and wife, there is no concept of 'overshadowing'."
The Naanum Rowdy Dhaan director then went on to narrate an incident where he was recognised by Nayanthara's name in public. "I don't have UPI based payment apps on my phone. I wanted to have a juice on the roadside. So I got down and had it. Usually, I would asked my driver to pay for it so that I can repay, but on that day, he was coming in a different vehicle. I was not sure what to do. The shopkeeper saw me and gave me a coy smile, referring to me by Nayanthara's name. He told me that it is fine if I didn't pay. I called up Nayan and told her that she saved me that day," he explained.
"When people refer to me as Uyir and Ulag's father, isn't that a beautiful feeling? It's the same joy I experience when I'm recognised by my wife's name. There is no jealousy or sense of male-female ego in this. It comes purely from love, and it fills me with immense happiness," he added.
Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara, began dating since they worked together on Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in 2015. They announced their engagement in 2021 and got married in 2022. The couple had twin boys on later that year through surrogacy.
His upcoming film LIK, a sci-fi romantic entertainer, is headlined by Pradeep Ranganathan, Krithi Shetty and SJ Suryah. It also stars Gouri Kishan, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Shah Ra, Malavika, Mysskin, Anandaraj and Sunil Reddy, among others.
Music composer Anirudh once again reunites with director Vignesh for LIK. The crew of the film also includes Ravi Varman as the director of photography, Pradeep E Ragav as the editor, T Muthuraj as the production designer, and Peter Hein as the stunt choreographer. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are producing LIK under their Rowdy Pictures, along with SS Lalit Kumar who backs the film under his Seven Screen Studio banner.
