RS Durai Senthilkumar's Leader, starring Legend Saravanan, is gearing up to open in theatres this Friday. During the promotions for the film, the filmmaker went back to his 2015 film, Kaaki Sattai, and analysed what mistakes he made in the film.

For the unversed, Kaaki Sattai was initially written for Dhanush, but the project eventually materialised with Sivakarthikeyan as the lead. "I initially wrote the film for Dhanush sir and the second half was very serious. Sivakarthikeyan was fresh off the success of Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, and he was a commercial comedy hero. As I collaborated with him after Ethir Neechal, the feedback I received from everybody was to ensure I made the film entertaining and not serious to suit him," he explained in an interview with Cinema Vikatan.

He then shared that the changes he made to the script were the mistake he made. He said, "I was not satisfied with Manobala sir's scenes during Kaaki Sattai's shooting itself. I had to change the film for him (Sivakarthikeyan), but that didn't quite work out, and I realised it after the film's release."

Durai started his career with Ethir Neechal and followed it up with Kaaki Sattai. He then collaborated with Dhanush on Kodi and Pattas. Last year, he helmed Soori-Sasikumar's Garudan, which was a commercial and critical hit.

Apart from playing the lead, Saravanan is producing Leader under his Saravana Stores Production banner. The ensemble cast of the film also includes Shaam, Andrea, Santhosh Prathap, Payal Rajput, Lal, Prabaharan, Amirtha Aiyer, VTV Ganesh, Iyal, Aishwarya, Mariam George, Nisha, and Kathir.

The technical team of the film comprises music composer Ghibran, cinematographer Venkatesh S, editor Pradeep E Ragav, art director G Durairaj, and stunt co-ordinator Mahesh Mathew. The film is slated to open in theatres on April 3.
