Vidharth is a naive farmer who discovers his ancestral agricultural land is in danger in the trailer of Marutham. The makers unveiled the trailer of the V Gajendran directorial on Sunday.
In Marutham, Vidharth plays Kanniappan, a farmer who tries to receive a loan by keeping his agricultural land as a mortgage. However, at the registration office, he discovers that money has already been lent for that piece of land and that it is in someone else's name. Kaniappan then goes from pillar to post in an attempt to save his ancestral agricultural land.
Rakshana, who debuted with Manoj Bharathiraja's Margazhi Thingal, plays the female lead in the upcoming film, marking her first collaboration with Vidharth. The film's extended cast comprises Aruldoss, Maran, Saravanan Subbaiah, Dinamodhu Nagaraj, and Mathew Varghese. Arul Somasundaram has handled the cinematography, Chanduru B has edited the film, and lyrics are by Neethi.
With Marutham, named after the landscape that represents fertile agricultural land in classical Tamil, Gajendran hopes to deliver a socially conscious yet commercially engaging film. The film is slated to open in theatres on October 10.
