It is well known that Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi is handling directorial responsibilities for Meesaya Murukku 2, the sequel to the 2017 comedy drama film. While shooting is said to have gone on floors earlier this month, cast and crew for the film is yet to be announced. Recently, composer Deva had revealed that he was approached to play the antagonist 'Dada' role in the film.

Speaking to reporters and audience at a recent event, the veteran composer shared, "Hiphop Aadhi came to see me with an extraordinary story. He told me I will be the 'Dada' in Meesaya Murukku 2. I was surprised. The story was excellent. However, I rejected it as I was busy with my concerts. For one week I am in Chennai after which I travel to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Paris, Japan and other countries. At this time, I couldn't commit to the project."

He further said, "Another reason is that I don't know how to act. I admit that with all frankness. I have to remember all the dialogues from the script and tell on screen. The artists are all busy and I will forget my dialogues."

Also a noted singer, Deva has only appeared on screen briefly in his songs as himself in several films like Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen (1998), Chinna Raja (1999), Adi Thadi (2004) and Englishkaran (2005), among others.

The upcoming sequel will pick up from where Meesaya Murukku (2017) left off, continuing Aadhi’s own story on screen. The first film, a coming-of-age musical comedy drama, followed his childhood and early struggles before breaking into cinema. The film became a box-office success, earning warm reviews and even inspiring a Kannada remake (Padde Huli) in 2019. With Meesaya Murukku 2, fans are eager to see what more of his life the rapper-turned-filmmaker chooses to narrate, especially the lesser-known chapters of his artistic journey.

This will mark Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi’s fourth directorial after Kadaisi Ulaga Por, a sci-fi war drama which was released last year.
