Kayadu Lohar took to social media to debunk the statements, made by a fake account in her name, about the tragedy that unfolded in Karur. At a political rally held at the town, by actor-politician Vijay's political party TVK, a stampede turned fatal for 40 people and caused injuries for more than 60 people.

The fake account claimed that Kayadu Lohar lost a close friend due to the stampede. The account also made some disparaging comments about Vijay and his political party.

Taking to X, Kayadu wrote, "The Twitter account circulating posts under my name is fake. I have no connection with it, and the statements made there are not mine."

Speaking out on the tragedy, the actor wrote, "I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident at the Karur rally, and my heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones."

She added, "However, I want to make it very clear that I do not have any personal friends in Karur, and the narrative being spread in my name is false. Please do not believe or circulate this misinformation. Once again, my prayers are with the families who are grieving."

Actor Vijay put out a statement on the tragedy, hours after it took place. He also announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the families of each of the victim.
