Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu took to social media to announce an update for the Vetri Maaran-Silambarasan TR film. Dubbed, STR 49, the film is set in the world of Vada Chennai.

The producer shared a photo of Vetri Maaran and Silambarasan in a recording studio, and wrote, "Mark your calenders! The most awarted combo will be revealed in the promo. Promo drops on Oct 4th." STR 49 will be backed by the producer under his V Creations banner.

In an extensive video, shared on YouTube, Vetri Maaran earlier revealed that the upcoming film will run parallel to the story of Anbu (Dhanush), from Vada Chennai (2018). While plot and character details are under wrap, the upcoming promo is expected to shed some light on the film.

Vada Chennai (2018) was written and directed by Vetri Maaran, and was produced by Dhanush, Vetri Maaran, and Lyca Production's Subaskaran Allirajah. The film chronicles the journey of Anbu's transformation from an aspiring carrom board player to a gangster. An update on the film's direct sequel is also expected soon.
