Singer Shweta Mohan, in her statement after being conferred the coveted Kalaimamani Award by the Tamil Nadu government, while expressing her gratitude, was also upset about the National Award being elusive to her legendary mother-singer Sujatha Mohan.
In her video address, she thanked the Tamil Nadu government for making her a recipient of the award and also viewed it as healthy that even youngsters like Anirudh are getting honoured. She added that her singer-mother Sujatha Mohan was conferred the Kalaimamani Award four years ago, but she has yet to get a National Award. She said that her mother has given her everything to the art and has sung numerous songs, but she doesn't get why the national award is still elusive to her.
Shweta quipped that every time Sujatha's songs are sent to the jury, somehow they don't get shortlisted. She wishes that her mother would soon receive the honour.
