It has been one year since the release of debutant filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu's cricket-based drama Lubber Pandhu, starring Harish Kalyan and Dinesh in the lead roles. On the occasion, the filmmaker took to social media to reminisce about working on the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film. In a long post, the filmmaker shared that he had many insecurities before Lubber Pandhu's release but the positive response from the audience had helped him overcome the same. He expressed his gratitude to the audience for their love and respect. At the end of his note, the Lubber Pandhu filmmaker revealed that he would work with actor Dhanush next. Tamizharasan Pachamuthu thanked Dhanush for the patience the latter showed while he pitched the story to the actor. With the announcement, the filmmaker has confirmed a rumour about his collaboration with Dhanush, which has been doing the rounds for a while now.

Tamizharasan Pachamuthu is yet to offer further details about the project. However, his fans and well wishers have welcomed the announcement with a great deal of excitement.

The revelation comes on the same day where the trailer for Idli Kadai, Dhanush's much-awaited film, released through a special event.

Lubber Pandhu earned plenty of appreciation not just from the audience but from cricketers such as Ravichandran Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh, among others. It gained positive word of mouth for the treatment of cricket in the film, the story, as well as the performances by Harish, Dinesh, and Swaswika in the main roles. In our review, Sudhir Srinivasan called it "a film of great balance," which "never allows itself to get carried away by a singular emotion."

The film also stars Kaali Venkat, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Geetha Kailasam, Devadarsini, and Bala Saravanan, among others. It is among the year's two cricket-based dramas in Tamil cinema to go down well with the audience, the other being Blue Star.
