Director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, who made his directorial debut with Lubber Pandhu, is currently working on his sophomore directorial. While an announcement for the same is awaited, speculations are rife that the director is working on a script for a film with actor Dhanush. In a recent interview with Mathevan, the director confirmed that his next is with a star and also shared a few details about the film.
Without naming Dhanush, the filmmaker said, “My next film is one I began writing after meeting the actor. It's a story crafted specifically for him. I don’t overthink my writing process, but I constantly remind myself that I’m writing for a star. At the end of the day, it’s the fans who are our primary audience, and the story needs to resonate with them. At the same time, I want the film to appeal equally to general viewers.”
Tamizharasan explained that while he is not doing much for this film in particular, he is working hard to rectify past problem areas. “I’m consciously writing this script with the star’s image in mind, and I’ve been putting in more effort here than I did for Lubber Pandhu. With my first film, I made a few mistakes, though the audience was kind enough to overlook them. I want to address those shortcomings in this next project.”
While the director disclosed that he is not taking the pressure, he admitted that the expectation level is high. “Having earned some appreciation with my debut, I know there will be greater expectations this time around. I’m working hard to meet those expectations and deliver a film that truly lives up to them.”
Harish Kalyan, Dinesh, Swasika, and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy played lead roles in Tamizharasan Pachamathu’s debut film, Lubber Pandhu. Set against a rural backdrop, the film featured the lead actors as gully cricket stars Gethu and Anbu, who shared an intense rivalry. The clash escalates when Anbu is romantically involved with Gethu's daughter. Their skills and emotions are put to the ultimate test. The film hit theatres in September 2024 and became a blockbuster hit, grossing 44 crores at the box office.
