At the audio launch of Idli Kadai held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, actor-director Dhanush recounted a striking moment from the film’s sets that highlighted Arun Vijay’s commitment to his craft.
During a high-octane fight sequence, a mistimed punch from Dhanush accidentally landed on Arun Vijay’s mouth, causing him to bleed. Dhanush recalled the incident with admiration: “During a fight sequence, we both had to be in the air. I had to deliver a punch. My hand, by mistake, touched his mouth. He (Arun Vijay) bled. If someone else had been there (in his place), shooting would have been stopped for two hours. Arun Vijay only took a moment, put an ice cube there and said, ‘Let’s go.’ Very dedicated, very sincere. Thank you for having absolute faith in me. Absolute privilege to have worked with you and directed you.”
The director also praised Arun Vijay’s overall commitment, saying, “We had such a great time working with each other. I have found a good friend (in Arun Vijay). You (Arun Vijay) have worked very hard for this film.”
Idli Kadai features Dhanush as Murugan and marks his fourth directorial venture after Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. The ensemble cast includes Nithya Menen as Kayal, Sathyaraj as Vishnu Varadhan, Arun Vijay as Ashwin, Samuthirakani as Marisamy, Rajkiran as Sivanesan, Shalini Pandey as Meera, and Parthiban as R Arivu.
On the technical front, Dhanush reunites with composer GV Prakash. The film’s crew also includes cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor GK Prasanna, and art director Jackson. Produced by Akash Bhaskaran under Dawn Pictures and Dhanush’s Wunderbar Pictures, the film will also mark the debut credit of Inban Udhayanidhi, son of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, as a distributor.
Idli Kadai is scheduled to hit theatres on October 1.
