The wait is almost over—Bigg Boss Tamil is gearing up for its ninth season, with Vijay Sethupathi back to anchor the drama inside the house. The new edition launches with a grand premiere on October 5, 2025, streaming on JioHotstar and airing simultaneously on Vijay TV.

Announcing the release, the streaming platform teased fans with a cryptic post: “Paaka paaka dhaan puriyum, poka poka dhaan theriyum. (You will understand only by watching, and you will realise as it goes on.) Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 | Grand Launch – From October 5.”

This marks Sethupathi’s second outing as host. He first stepped into the role in Bigg Boss Tamil 8, which premiered on October 6, 2024. That season, running for 105 days with 24 contestants, ended with debater and anchor Muthukumaran lifting the trophy, while Soundarya finished as the runner-up. Muthukumaran walked away with the title and a prize of Rs 40.5 lakh.

Sethupathi had replaced Kamal Haasan, who had helmed the show for seven consecutive seasons before stepping away to prioritise his film and political commitments. Season 8 introduced viewers to Sethupathi’s fresh style of hosting, which quickly won praise for its engaging approach and unique flair.

Though the contestant lineup and theme for Season 9 are still under wraps, anticipation is already building. With Sethupathi’s trademark charisma back at the helm, fans are expecting another rollercoaster of drama, strategy, and emotions inside the Bigg Boss house.

Meanwhile, on the big screen, Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in Pandiraj’s romantic action comedy Thalaivan Thalaivii, co-starring Nithya Menen. He is currently filming PuriSethupathi, an action entertainer directed by Puri Jagannadh and featuring Samyuktha and Tabu. His upcoming slate also includes Mysskin’s Train.
