Days after actor-politician Kamal Haasan stepped down from hosting Tamil TV reality show Bigg Boss, Vijay TV, the channel that telecasts the show, has announced that Vijay Sethupathi will now take the mantle from his Vikram co-star.
The announcement was made through a short video where Vijay Sethupathi is seen donning a blazer.
Early in August, Kamal Haasan took to his X handle to announce his decision to take a break from the hosting duties of this popular TV show that has been telecast for the past seven years.
He attributed the decision to "prior cinematic commitments". According to our sources, the actor did it specifically for Thug Life, the sequel to Nag Aswin's Kalki 2898 AD, and the Anbariv directorial.
A part of a note from the actor reads, "I have been privileged to reach you in your homes. You have showered me with your love and affection, for which you have my everlasting gratitude."
In the note, the actor also thanked his Bigg Boss Tamil team at Vijay TV and wished them well for the upcoming season.
After a successful outing with Maharaja, Vijay Sethupathi will next be seen in films of Mysskin's Train, Aarumuga Kumar's Ace, and an untitled Pandiraj film with Nithya Menen playing the female lead. Meanwhile, Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai Part 2, alongside Soori, will be Vijay Sethupathi's second Tamil release of the year, scheduled to hit the theatres on December 20.
