Actor and Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan has shared his views on the ongoing stray dogs issue in India. Speaking to reporters outside the airport in Chennai, he stated that the solution to the issue is simple and noted, "People who understand the world and its history, societal hygiene aren't searching for donkeys anymore. The same animals who bore weight on their backs for decades, aren't seen on streets anymore. Have people gone to rescue them? We have to save every animal as much as possible."

In August, the Supreme Court had ordered that street dogs be moved into shelters — a judgment that sparked debate across India. While some saw it as a step toward safety, others expressed fear highlighting its impracticality and harmful after effects.

Following massive criticism and protests from animal lovers, the court recently modified its earlier order and ruled that dogs must be caught, vaccinated, sterilised and returned to their neighbourhood, while aggressive dogs and those carrying rabies should be moved to shelters. SC also banned feeding strays in public spaces and asked civic authorities to designate specific areas where dogs can be given food. The issue continues to be a burning debate on social media.

On the movie front, Kamal Haasan was last seen in Mani Ratnam's Thug Life. which saw the actor-director reuniting after 38 years. The film, unfortunately failed to make a mark at the box office and was met with lukewarm response from audiences. Up next, he has the untitled KH 237, directed by stunt choreographer duo Anbariv which is expected to go on floors soon. However, an official announcement is yet to arrive.
