The makers of director Mari Selvaraj's Bison announced earlier today that a version of the film dubbed in Telugu is now out in theatres. Jagathambe Films is the distributor for the film's Telugu version. In the announcement post, the makers call the Tamil version a 'blockbuster'. The other day, one of the producers of the film, Applause Entertainment, announced through social media that the film has grossed 35 crore from theatres worldwide. Pa Ranjith and his Neelam Studios partner Aditi Anand produced the film, starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Paramesawaran, among others.
Based on Arjun Award-winning Kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan's life, Bison tells the story of a youngster (Dhruv Vikram) aspiring to get into the national Kabaddi team. However, his journey is not a straightforward one, thanks to his upbringing in a world full of violence based on caste and class divide. The film also stars Pasupathi, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Ameer, and Azhagam Perumal, among others.
Recently, Dhruv Vikram said that he considers Bison his acting debut, although it is technically his third film. Dhruv's credits also include the Arjun Reddy remake Adithya Varma and Karthik Subbaraj's Mahaan, starring his iconic actor-father Vikram in the lead role. According to Dhruv Vikram, he only has a cameo in Mahaan and Adithya Varma is not an original film, making him regard Bison as his debut.
