Mari Selvaraj's Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead role, continues to gain appreciation from those within and beyond the film industry. Earlier today, Mari Selvaraj shared a note of appreciation for the film from Vetri Maaran. In his note, the Vada Chennai filmmaker called it "a striking meditation on resilience and resistance." According to Vetri Maaran, a director known for his films about caste and class divide, much like Mari Selvaraj's films, Bison explodes even in silence and shows its protagonist Kittan's (Dhruv) suppressed anger. "The shifts between black-and-white and colour reflect loss, memory and hope," he wrote.

Vetri Maaran touched upon the Mari Selvaraj directorial's core themes, saying its portrayal of Kabaddi alludes to "a fight for dignity" and the running sequences show "relentless struggle". He also appreciated Dhruv Vikram's performance in the film, calling it "a raw and unforgettable performance anchored by powerful metaphors."

Mari Selvaraj thanked Vetri Maaran for his appreciation for the film.
