Rajinikanth is currently gearing up for the highly anticipated Jailer 2, directed by Nelson, which is slated for release on June 12, 2026. On Monday, on the occasion of Deepavali, the makers of the film unveiled behind-the-scenes footage of the film's shoot.

Sharing the video, Sun Pictures wrote on X, "Wishing everyone a super Deepavali! Here's an exclusive BTS from #Jailer2."

The sequel promises to be an even grander action spectacle, with the returning cast including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa, alongside new additions such as Vidya Balan and Anna Rajan. Cameos from Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal are expected, while Nandamuri Balakrishna and Mithun Chakraborty are reportedly set for extended roles.

Jailer 2 continues the saga of Muthuvel Pandian, who faces even greater threats than in the first instalment, promising high-octane action and intense drama. The film is a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, which became a massive hit at the box office. Backed by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 will have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R Nirmal.

In addition to Rajinikanth’s ongoing projects, he is also set to collaborate with Kamal Haasan on a high-profile film, although the director for this venture is yet to be finalised. Meanwhile, Nelson is reportedly eyeing a project with Jr NTR after completing Jailer 2.
