A while ago, Vijay Television dropped a promo for the Diwali special episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 9. In the promo, the housemates can be seen celebrating the festival alongside Bison stars Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran. Clad in traditional clothing, they have food, light up diyas, and dance with joy with the two stars of the Mari Selvaraj directorial.

Reports following the release of the promo say that a lot of the back-and-forth in the Diwali special Bigg Boss episode would revolve around 'watermelon star' Diwakar and Gana Vinoth. Recently, Diwakar said that he could reduce his belly within days of entering the popular reality TV program. However, images of him participating in a Diwali oil bath tradition are doing the rounds on social media and have already evoked many responses. Reportedly, seeing Diwakar perform the tradition, Gana Vinoth said, "It looks like a turtle that has emerged from the ocean," and exposed his previous claim as a lie.

In a recent episode, Gana Vinoth's humour had the show's host Vijay Sethupathi in splits. The other day saw the elimination of participant Apsara. Arora, Gana Vinoth, Aadhirai, Viyana, Kalaiyarasan, Tushar, Praveen Raj, Subhiksha, and Ramya are among those who have been nominated for elimination from Bigg Boss this week.
