Actor Gulshan Devaiah is experiencing a career high with a key role in Rishab Shetty's blockbuster film Kantara: Chapter 1. The film marked his Kannada debut, earning him more audiences in a new language. However, Gulshan has largely starred in Hindi films until now. One of his memorable performances comes in director Vasan Bala's mad-cap comedy Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018). The actor has a dual role as Karate Mani and Jimmy in the film, a unique blend of action and comedy. Interestingly, in a recent interview with Mashable India, the actor disclosed that he paid tributes to Vadivelu and Pankaj Tripathi in the film.

In a particular scene in the film, Mani talks to his brother Jimmy, giving the latter an explanation for arranging a karate event without asking him. Hearing the explanation, Jimmy sighs, "Aiyyo Aiyyo!" In the interview, Gulshan said that it is a reference to Vadivelu. "That is me referencing this wonderful comedy actor from Tamil films called Vadivelu," Gulshan said as he watched the clip from the 2018 film. Gulshan also revealed that he borrows such stuff from other actors. "I keep stealing stuff. I think some parts of Jimmy was Pankaj Tripathi," he said referring to the latter's catchphrase 'Smart Boy' from Fukrey.
