On day 2 of Bigg Boss Tamil 9, all the housemates were punished by Bigg Boss for breaking certain rules. As previously reported, Bigg Boss set specific privileges for the super deluxe members of the house while also establishing a set of rules for the other contestants. However, as a few of these rules were broken, including one pertaining to the water task for the week, the contestants had to face a minor punishment.

After the contestants explained their difficulty due to the lack of an unlimited supply of drinking water, Bigg Boss offered them several bottles, promising that the supply would continue without any rules. However, Kani Thiru used the water, which was meant only for drinking purposes, in cooking, leading to the first rule-break.

Similarly, while explaining the rules of the super deluxe house members, Bigg Boss clearly stated that the food of the luxury members should not be consumed by the other members. Despite this rule, Tusshar, who got eggs along with his other luxury teammates, offered it to the Bigg Boss house members, 'Vikkals' Vikram, which led to the next rule-break.

As these rules were broken, Bigg Boss announced that the contestants will be punished for the same. The contestants were then asked to nominate a luxury member to go to the normal Bigg Boss house and a member from the majority to become a luxury member. The super deluxe members nominated Tusshar, as he broke the rule by offering his food to Vikram. Similarly, as nobody else volunteered except Viyana, she was moved to the luxury house.
