Kalyani Priyadarshan, who stars in the upcoming Tamil film Genie, took to social media to share her thoughts about the upcoming single, 'Abdi Abdi'. AR Rahman is composing music for the film, which stars Ravi Mohan in the lead.

Taking to her X handle, the actor wrote, "As an actor, I always try to push and challenge myself to do things I’ve never done before. This song was one of those moments." She added, "When our director Bhuvanesh told me about it, I was amazed at how nicely he made such a commercial musical piece into a real and important part of Genie’s story."

Writing about the film, Kalyani shared, "I can’t wait for you all to see it in the film - the reasons behind it are so powerful! Worked super hard and tried something new, and I really hope you all like it."

'Abdi Abdi' is scheduled to release on 8:10 pm today (October 7). Genie will mark the fourth time AR Rahman is composing for a film starring Ravi Mohan, after Ponniyin Selvan: 1, Ponniyin Selvan: 2, and Kadhalikka Neramillai.

Kalyani Priyadarashan is on the heels of the success of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which was directed by Dominic Arun. The film is currently on its way to gross over Rs 300 crores in its worldwide collection. Being the first film of a planned five film universe, the next film will focus on the character of Tovino Thomas, Chathan.
