In Bigg Boss Tamil 9, the very first task for the housemates was introduced on Day 1, setting the tone for an eventful season. During the launch episode, Kani Thiru was the first contestant to read out the task details regarding the house’s water tank and encouraged others to participate actively. On Monday, Bigg Boss revealed that the week’s main task would revolve around managing the limited water supply.
Housemates have been allotted only 500 litres of water for all purposes except drinking. Bigg Boss announced that whenever a red light flashes near the tap, the contestants must move the water tank to that area to refill it. To manage this system efficiently, a water supervisor from the Super Deluxe group and a water assistant from the other members were to be appointed—only these two individuals are permitted to handle, allocate, and refill water.
Kamrudin was chosen as the water supervisor representing the luxury group, while Sabarinathan was appointed as his assistant. Adding a twist, Bigg Boss also set special rules for drinking water supply. The contestants received three litres of complimentary drinking water. Thereafter, whenever water bottles are placed in the storage room, the housemates must be alert to hear a knock signalling their arrival. For every minute they fail to respond and collect the bottles, one bottle will be taken away.
On Day 2, however, the water tank reportedly broke, forcing contestants to look for alternatives—including attempting to use water from the swimming pool.
Hosted by Vijay Sethupathi for the second consecutive season, Bigg Boss Tamil 9 streams 24×7 on JioCinema, with a one-hour highlight episode airing daily at 9:30 p.m. on Vijay Television. This season features 20 contestants competing under a new set of challenges and surprises.
