On Thursday, on the occasion of Vijayadasami/Dussera, the makers of Mookuthi Amman 2, starring Nayanthara as the titular character, unveiled the first-look poster. Telugu and Hindi posters of the film have also been unveiled, with the film being titled Mahasakthi in the two languages.

In the poster of the Sundar C directorial, Nayanthara is back as the Goddess, dressed with grandeur in a green silk saree and bejewelled with gold and diamonds. Holding the trident, however, she looks equally divine as well as disturbed, as she faces down.

Apart from Nayanthara, the ensemble cast of Mookuthi Amman 2 comprises Duniya Vijay, Regina Cassandra, Suneel, Yogi Babu, Abhinaya, Ineya, Garuda Raam, Singampuli, Vichu Vishwanath, Ajay Ghosh, and Myna Nandhini, among others. At the film's launch event, director Sundar C revealed that Duniya Vijay will be seen in a negative role.

Sundar C's frequent collaborator, Hip Hop Tamizha Adhi, is all set to compose for the sequel. Venkat Raghavan, who has worked as a screenplay and dialogue writer with Sundar C in many films, including Madha Gaja Raja, is performing the same function in this film, in addition to acting. Gopi Amarnath, who has previously cranked the camera for Sundar C's Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru and Aambala, is the cinematographer of Mookuthi Amman 2.

The upcoming film is backed by Ishari Ganesh of Vels Films International and will also be co-produced by Sundar C-Khushbu Sundar's Avni Cinemax Pvt Limited, Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, and Ivy Entertainment.

The original Mookuthi Amman was helmed and headlined by RJ Balaji and also starred Nayanthara and Urvashi in lead roles. Released on Disney+ Hotstar in 2020, the film garnered widespread critical and commercial success.
