AR Rahman gifts white grand piano to GV Prakash after second National Award win

Sharing photos of the piano on his social media handles, GV Prakash expressed his happiness and gratitude on getting the instrument from AR Rahman

Composer-singer GV Prakash is on cloud nine after receiving a special gift from AR Rahman after winning his second National Award at the recent 71st National Film Awards held in Delhi. The Oscar winner had gifted a white grand piano from Wm Knabe & Co to GV Prakash. What made it even more valuable and noteworthy was that the piano was used by Rahman himself.

Sharing photos of the piano on his social media handles, GV Prakash expressed his happiness and gratitude on getting the instrument from Rahman, calling it the "best gift" he had ever received. "What more better gift can I ask for," he added in his note.

GV Prakash won an award in the Best Music Direction category for his songs in Venky Atluri's 2023 film Vaathi, starring Dhanush and Samyuktha in the lead roles. This is GV Prakash's second National Award. He won his first for the background score of Soorarai Pottru (2020)starring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali.

Earlier, he released a note on his X handle stating that he is "truly overwhelmed and deeply grateful" to win the award. He extended his gratitude to Dhanush, the jury and selection committee and the whole Vaathi team.

This year, GV Prakash had composed for three films - Ajith's Good Bad Ugly, Padaiyaanda Maaveeraa and Dhanush's Idli Kadai, which released on Wednesday. His upcoming slate of films include Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi, Kavin's Mask, Soori's Mandaadi, Venky Atluri's untitled Suriya 46, Dhanush's D54, Vishal's Magudam and the long-delayed Vaadivaasal from Vetri Maaran.
