In less than 24 hours of its release, 'God Mode,' the first single from Suriya's upcoming film Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, generated more than six million views on YouTube. The song video features Suriya clad in black and dancing before a deity alongside many background dancers. The film's composer Sai Abhyankkar, who also sang the track alongside Gana Muthu, recently spoke about its creation. Speaking to Galatta Plus about the inspiration behind the song, Sai said, "I have a huge love for the Sambalpuri sounds, the Bengali sounds." The music director said that he listened to such music on a consistent basis after coming back from a trip. "When I heard it, I got this idea for a groove where it had a swing rhythm. So I immediately programmed the sequence. I just used it and came up with the hook (for the song)," he said referring to the initial humming stretch in the song. He also disclosed that he transitioned into the melodic portion after the humming and again back to a beat similar to the opening section. "I never go on that Pallavi-Anupallavi-Charanam path," Sai Abhyankkar said.

Karuppu has four writers Ashwin Ravichandran, TS Gopi Krishnan, Karan ARavind Kumar, and Rahul Raj. A Dream Warrior Pictures production, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Swaswika, Yogi Babu, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Sshivada. Director RJ Balaji also has a cameo role in the film. Karuppu's technical team also includes cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor Kalaivan, and stunt choreographers Anbariv and Vikram Mor.
