The makers of writer-director Selvamani Selvaraj's Kaantha released the first official trailer for the period film, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles, a while ago. It stars Dulquer as the lead hero in a black-and-white film within the film, opposite Bhagyashri's character. Samuthirakani's character plays the director of the film that Dulquer's hero, his disciple, stars in. At one point, a character describes Dulquer's film star as "the king of acting". The trailer then goes on to show a conflict between Samuthirakani and Dulquer's characters, with the latter insisting on making the film his way, even as the former asks Bhagyashri's character to act according to the way he wants. The Kaantha trailer ends with Dulquer's character asking a crew member to keep the camera closer to his face.

Rana Daggubati, who produces Kaantha under his Spirit Media banner alongside Dulquer's Wayfarer Films, also stars in it in a key role. Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese are also part of the producers. Thamizh Prabha is credited for additional screenplay and additional dialogues and as a story consultant.

On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Dani Sanchez Lopez, editing by Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalvez, music by Jhanu Chanthar, art direction by Ramalingam, as well as costumes by Poojita Tadikonda, Archana Rao, and Harmann Kaur.

Kaantha is slated for a November 14 release in theatres worldwide.
