The first single from Dulquer Salmaan's upcoming period film Kaantha with director Selvamani Selvaraj is here. Titled 'Panimalare', it is a romantic track sung by Pradeep Kumar and Priyanka NK with lyrics by Kutti Revathi, Sivam and Deepika Karthik Kumar as well as composition by Jhanu Chanthar. The video features Dulquer sporting a black suit jacket as he pulls off gracefully effortless dance moves alongside Bhagyashri Borse, who is clad in a red gown. The film, which Selvamani Selvaraj directs from his own screenplay, also stars Samuthirakani and Rana Daggubati.
Dulquer is also producing Kaantha under his Wayfarer Films banner alongside Rana Daggubati of Spirit Media, Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese. The makers recently released a teaser that gives a glimpse into Kaantha's plot, which involves Samuthirakani's character directing Dulquer's hero and Bhagyashri's heroine in a horror film within the film. According to the teaser, Samuthirakani's character has long been the mentor of the hero that Dulquer plays in the film. The trailer also hints at a conflict between the two, one that even gets physical.
On the technical front, the film also has cinematography by Dani Sanchez Lopez, editing by Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalvez, and art direction by Ramalingam. The film credits Thamizh Prabha as additional dialogues and story consultant, as well as additional screenplay writer alongside Sri Harsha Rameshwaram.
The song and trailer for Kaantha remind you of Dulquer's 2018 film Mahanati, costarring Keerthy Suresh. The film is is slated for a September 12 release in theatres.
