Director Pa Ranjith recently met with kabaddi player Karthika to laud her on her Gold Medal win as part of the U18 women's kabaddi team at the youth Asian Games. Karthika was the vice-captain of the team.

Pa Ranjith met the kabaddi team of Kannagi Nagar, Chennai. Ranjith was recently a producer on Bison Kaalamaadan a sports drama film with kabaddi at its centre.

Ranjith produced the film along with Sameer Nair, Aditi Anand, and Deepak Segal. Sunil Chainani, Pramod Cheruvalath, and Prasoon Garg served as co-producers on the film. Applause Entertainment and Neelam Studios were the banners backing the film.

Bison, directed by Mari Selvaraj, was based on the life of Arjuna awardee Manathi Ganesan and starred Dhruv Vikram, Anupama Parameswaran, Pasupathy, Ameer, Lal, Rajisha Vijayan. The film released on October 17, and recieved positive reviews from the critics.
