Earlier, we reported about Karthi visiting Malaysia to attend the premiere of Banduan, an official remake of his 2019 film Kaithi from director Lokesh Kanagaraj. At a special event before the premiere, the actor spoke about the significance of the Kaithi remake.

"Kaithi is coming in Malay now. That is so special to all of us. So happy to see all of you here," the actor said addressing the crowd. He went on to add, "This crossover happening for the first time between Malay and Tamil is amazing. It is almost like history is being made today."

The actor also expressed his gratitude to the Banduan cast and crew for the "love and respect" that he has been receiving ever since he reached Malaysia for the film's premiere. He wished the team behind the film "a huge success," and said that he is looking forward to watching it on the big screen. "They have worked very hard," he said before revealing that the remake has been shot in and around the ocean.

Directed by Kroll Azry, Banduan stars Aaron Aziz in the lead role, alongside Rosyam Nor, Fadhli Masoot, Afdlin Shauki, and Abi Madyan, among others. Music director Sam CS returns for the remake; he has composed the film's music alongside Litia Ramachandran.
