We had previously reported that Kaithi's Malaysian remake Banduan is set for release in the country on November 6. Ahead of its premiere, Karthi has flown to Malaysia to meet the cast and crew. Pictures of him meeting lead actor Aaron Aziz have gone viral on social media. The premiere event is being promoted as 'Dilli Meets Dali' (their characters from the respective films) and is expected to be a grand celebration across the country with promotions in full swing.

The star cast for Banduan also includes Rosyam Nor, Afdin Shauki, and Fadhli Masoot, among others. Dream Warrior Pictures, which backed the original, sold the remake rights to the film. Banduan's teaser was also released recently, which offered a glimpse into the gritty world of the film and hinted at a faithful adaptation of Kaithi. Sam CS has returned to compose background score for the remake.

Kaithi, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj also stars Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, George Maryan and Dheena. It revolved around the events of one night where a recently released prisoner drives poisoned policemen to a hospital while evading criminals, in exchange for meeting his daughter who was waiting at an orphanage.
