Released barely a week ago, actor Suriya's recent release, Retro, has raked in Rs 104 crore at the box office worldwide. The makers made an official announcement about the same on Tuesday.

Getting a May 1 release, the film opened to mixed to positive responses. An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "The director’s adamant fixation on making this film ideologically dense ironically ends up showing us how functionally shallow its surface-level social commentaries are. Perhaps failing in pursuit of greatness is no failure at all."

Produced by Suriya-Jyotika's 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films, Retro also stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead along with Jayaram, Joju George, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Karunakaran, Tamizh, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sandeep Raj, Murugavel, and Remya Suresh, among others.

With Santhosh Narayanan as the music composer, the technical crew of the film crew comprises cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, editor Shafique Mohamed, art director Jackson, action choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, and costume designer Praveen Raja.
