Over the years, Vijay and Anirudh have developed an unshakable rapport as the composer-singer created several chartbusters for the actor-turned-Chief Minister in the last 12 years, beginning with Kaththi (2014). Now, as the partnership comes to an end with H Vinoth's latest release Jana Nayagan, which marks Vijay's last film, Anirudh has penned a heartfelt post on his X handle.

Describing their collaborations through the years as an "emotional journey", he wrote, "It has been a thoroughly amazing and emotional journey with you through Jana Nayagan, Leo, Beast, Master and Kaththi. Thank you actor Vijay sir for the unlimited trust and memories that I will cherish forever. The music lives on."

Their five major film projects consists of several blockbuster numbers including 'Selfie Pulla' from Kaththi (2014), 'Vaathi Coming' and 'Kutti Story' from Master (2021), 'Naa Ready' and 'Bloody Sweet' from Leo (2023), 'Thalapathy Kacheri' from Jana Nayagan. On the day of the release, Anirudh visited Vettri Theatres in Chennai to catch the star's film on the big screen for one last time. He waved his hand at the crowd who welcomed him, and then recreated Vijay's iconic hand gesture from Mersal (2017). He also addressed the press after leaving the theatre, stating how emotional he was after wathing the film.

Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan is continuing its dream run at the box office and has already breached the Rs 200 crore mark globally within four days of its release. The film's revenue is now at a staggering Rs 217.48 crore. The actioner boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. The film, which is a partial remake of 2023 National Award-winning Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, is backed by Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions in its foray into Tamil cinema.
