Vijay was recently seen on the political stage as his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), entered into the second year. With an aim to completely focus on electoral politics, the actor has announced he will quit cinema after his current film Jananayagan, helmed by H Vinoth.

Vijay's retirement raised questions and speculations regarding the sequels to his previous films Leo and The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). Both the films would have had a climax hinting at a sequel.

Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, who helmed GOAT, was at a film award ceremony recently. When asked whether he still has plans for the sequel, he hinted that a sequel was not off the cards and will reveal an update about the same after 2026, referring to the Tamil Nadu State Assembly Elections. It is worth noting that during his party's maiden conference, the actor said that there is no looking back for him after this, and he is letting go of his flourishing career for the welfare of people.

On the work front, Vijay's 69th film, Jananayagan, expected to be his last, also stars Pooja Hedge, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol.
