Earlier, we reported that the Kunchacko Boban starrer Officer On Duty will release in Telugu on March 07, Friday, and that a Tamil version is also in the pipeline. Now, the makers of the film have announced that its Tamil dubbed version will release on March 14.

The film, directed by debutant Jithu Ashraf from a Shahi Kabir screenplay, tells the story of an aggressive police officer (Kunchacko) and his search for a gang of serial killers. It also stars Priyamani, Jagadish, and Vishak Nair, among others. The film has been received well at the box office and met with mostly positive reviews from critics, with high praise for Kunchacko Boban's performance.

An excerpt from CE's review reads, "Debutant director Jithu Ashraf shows great urgency with how he sets up the initial half of the film... Shahi, despite his affinity for police stories, doesn't always glorify the force. Even in Officer on Duty, he doesn't shy away from exposing the weeds in the system."

A few days after release of the film, Shahi Kabir announced his next project Ronth, this time as a director, starring Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan. Ronth is another cop drama from the writer of Joseph, Nayattu, and Officer on Duty, as well as the director of Ela Veezha Poonchira.
