On Tuesday, the makers of Mookuthi Amman 2 announced that the film's pooja ceremony and commencement will take place on March 6 at Prasad Studios in Chennai. Producer Ishari K Ganesh was seen praying at a temple for the film's success, and also met with the sequel's director Sundar C, as shared in a video by Vels Film International.

With Nayanthara set to reprise her role from Mookuthi Amman (2020), the sequel will also be co-produced by Sundar C-Khushbu Sundar's Avni Cinemax Pvt Limited, Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, and Ivy Entertainment.

Helmed by RJ Balaji, the original also starred him alongside Nayanthara and Urvashi in lead roles. The story follows Engels Ramasamy, a hapless news anchor living with his mother, sisters, and grandfather. After visiting his ancestral deity, Mookuthi Amman, his life takes a dramatic turn, bringing both positive changes and new challenges. Released on Disney+ Hotstar in 2020, the film garnered widespread critical and commercial success.
