The latest actor to resist a moniker is Nayanthara. The actor issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.

Thanking all her fans for "graciously" referring to her as Lady Superstar, she said she would just like to be called Nayanthara. Giving the reason for this decision, the actor said that the name Nayanthara is the "closest" to her heart. She adds, "It represents who I am—not just as an actor but as an individual."

She further states that titles and accolades are "priceless," but that can create an image that "separates us from our work, our craft, and the unconditional bond we share with you—the audience."

Nayanthara's statement follows actors such as Kamal Haasan and Ajith Kumar penning statements requesting not to address them with the monikers attached to their names.

On the workfront, her previous feature film was Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food. The Netflix documentary on her career and life, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, released late last year. She will be seen in Test (Tamil), Mannangatti Since 1960 (Tamil), Dear Students (Malayalam), MMMN (Malayalam), Toxic (Kannada and English), Rakkayie (Tamil), Mookuthi Amman 2 (Tamil), and an untitled Tamil film with Vishnu Edavan, which are in different stages of production.
