At the launch of his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam last year, Vijay said that he would not act again in films following two more films, the second of which has since been titled Jana Nayagan. Still, there has been plenty of speculation about whether Jana Nayagan would be Vijay's final film as an actor. Amid all the speculation, the actor's Jana Nayagan co-star Mamitha Baiju has hinted at a potential continuation of the former's career after the upcoming H Vinoth directorial. Speaking at an event in Ireland, Mamitha said that she asked Vijay whether he would do films after Jana Nayagan and that he reportedly told her it would depend on the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly election result next year. He is set to contest in the election.

Mamitha, who stars with Vijay for the first time in Jana Nayagan, also discussed what the last few days of shoot was like for the film's cast and crew, particularly for him. Reportedly, Vijay was quite emotional as the production came to a close, affecting the rest of the cast and the crew. "He was so emotional that he could not take photographs with anyone," said the Premalu star.

As Vijay turned 51 the other day, Jana Nayagan's makers released a glimpse video, featuring the actor clad in a police uniform and wielding a sword. Also starring Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Prakash Raj, Pooja Hegde, Narain, and Gautham Vasudev Menon Jana Nayagan is slated for a January 09, 2026 release.
